Industrial tourmaline can be simply divided to Single Crystal grade and Fabrilla grade. Geographically, SC tourmaline is generally formed in deeper and individual spot mine field. Therefore, it can only be mined manually one spot after another but not obtained through machine operation. Unlike SC tourmaline, Fabrilla tourmaline is formed in surface of mine field which is very easy to obtain either by explosion or surface mining with machine. In China, only Xinjinag Aletai mountain range region (in northern China, mid-Asia, near Russian) produces the finest Single crystal grade tourmaline that owns excellent characters of FIR and Negative ion. Other province in China such as Hobai, Guanxi or Yun-nang also produce tourmaline, but mostly are fabrilla grade which has the similar appearance but with only weak or even no function.
