Q - Are any water filters capable of eliminating carcinogens from drinking water? I'd like to find an under-the-sink variety for my kitchen, but would also consider other types.

A - No filter or system will eliminate all carcinogens from water. But if your water comes from a public supply it should be safe to drink, said Stew Thornley, health educator with the Minnesota Department of Health's State Drinking Water Program. The water is tested regularly to ensure that it meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards.
